Introducing Roelf Steyn Wedding Photography

I've lived in beautiful Chattanooga Tennessee for the past seven years. My wife and I are both native South Africans and that is where my love for photography developed. I received a degree in photography and started working under some of South Africa's top wedding photographers. Although I've learned a lot of technical details about wedding photography, the one thing I am very thankful for is that I was able to realize and develop my own style.

The buzz words these days are photojournalistic or cinematic styles. Both styles are great but I feel that a wedding need a combination of styles. Each wedding is unique and should be approached in a manner that reflects the essence of the day. A good photographer would be able to adjust to all styles, challenges in light, weather and the progress of the day.

Years of experience with people and photography taught me the valuable skill of anticipation. Some of my greatest work was produced having this skill combined with patience.

Not all people are natural born models, and even they sometimes have a hard time in front of a camera. With my relaxed personality and unobtrusive approach, I manage to get the best out of people and capture their true emotion.

Photography is not just a job but a passion for me. Each wedding is unique and that is the way I approach it. After all, it's all about the bride and groom! When I shoot a wedding I am there to capture the day and the emotions that go with it. Therefore I do not limit myself to x number of hours at the wedding. I also do not limit myself to x number of pictures captured although I feel that quality is always better than quantity.
