About Me
In the summer of 2005, Parris Whittingham Photography was born and my life was forever changed. I was born in New York City, however, traveling has helped shape my international perspective. From studying marine biology in the Bahamas, to fishing for piranhas in Brazil, and eating fried scorpions in China, I have been blessed with the opportunity to meet loads of wonderful people and share some amazing memories with them. There is nothing better than meeting people who challenge me to grow and respect (from the Latin form meaning "look again") the way I interpret the world. After all, that is my job as an artist. As a photographer, I seek to create work that inspires empathy and joy. Photojournalism plays a huge role in how I work to capture your wedding moments. I am a proud member of the Wedding Photojournalists Association (WPJA). Photography has played a truly special role in helping me to honor and celebrate the legacy of my family. My grandfather was one of the first photographers to create color advertisements in St. Luis. His wedding /family portraits of my family date back to 1936. These images help me to connect with people and places I have never seen. This is the legacy of photography. A lot has changed since 1936, however, the power of photography still allows us to experience these forgotten or distant memories as if we were there. This is the value of powerful wedding images.

Art is very similar to marriage. Both are intimate expressions of passion, love & joy. Each require a great deal of trust, focus and empathy. There are no "shortcuts" to creating a successful work of art or a joyous marriage, each must be nurtured, developed and respected. My goal is to collaborate with the most creative, loving and diverse couples worldwide. To honor these commitments, I accept a limited number of wedding photography commissions each year. Although I use a "package" to help organize and explain my services, every wedding photography project is custom-designed to meet your specific needs. I'm also available to work in New Jersey, Connecticut and Destination Weddings. I like people, art, food and books. I return emails within 24 hours. My services are flexible and inclusive. My commitment is to honor your best long-term interests with amazing service, exceptional quality and photojournalistic wedding captures. None of this would be possible without fun & joy.
