White Canvas Wedding Photogapher Bio Portrait About John

What do I love about photography? It's something I like to call creative freedom. Photography has been a journey for me. Ever since I received my first camera as a gift, a 35mm Olympus Trip, I knew I wanted to be a photographer. I remember being amazed at how I could capture and maneuver something as intangible as light. I loved being able to photograph something the way I saw it. Even as a photography student when I was told things had to be done a certain way, I could do the opposite and the result would be something completely different and unique. I could be as creative as I wanted to be.

My career began in the commercial field after I earned a degree in commercial photography. It wasn't until years later that I was asked to photograph a client's wedding. I accepted, somewhat reluctantly, but was surprised to find that photographing a wedding came very naturally to me. Being in the presence of so many kind and genuine people made the experience more fulfilling than I could have imagined.

Philosophy

My philosophy in regards to my work and photography in general is simple: keep things as real as possible. I can certainly appreciate what many people are now calling "photo illustrations", however, what I found most inspiring about photography to start with is the ability to capture every detail of a moment. I would describe my style as very natural and expressive. My goal is to convey a sense of life in photographs that truly reflects who you are - a thought, a mood, or an expression. If you can look at a photograph and feel what the subject was feeling, I have accomplished my goal. It's about capturing emotion through the lens and portraying them with my artistic vision. I don't feel the need to over-process images. A great image is great because of the moment it captures and the skill-set needed to capture it, not because of what's done to it afterwards. Simply stated, it's about telling your story through beautiful photographs.

Working with Me

I have a very relaxed style of shooting which allows me to capture images that are spontaneous and real. I love to see people laughing and having fun. There is absolutely no pressure which means less stress for you on your wedding day. My work is the result of a collaborative effort - more often than not I will give you a little bit of direction and then let the rest naturally fall into place. The outcome is a photojournalistic look that is vibrant and beautiful.

It is very important to me to build lasting relationships with my clients. I am committed to providing a level of quality, professionalism and personal service that will exceed your expectations.
