Matthew Lundell is an apprentice trained photographer from Pensacola, Florida. He regularly covers wedding photography from Shreveport, Ruston, and Monroe, Louisiana. His love for catching the still images that could be cherished for a lifetime started in high school. He started with an old beat up Fuji camera that he brought through the classified ads with his own money. He was soon capturing his family's important moments and anything else that caught his interest.
He soon found himself the assistant manager at Camera America, a photofinishing lab, after high school. He met many photographers and soon learned that he could make a career out of his most loved hobby. He interviewed with a local wedding photographer who looked over his proofs and hired him for a trail period to learn and soon take on the excess clients. Matthew was a quick study and was soon photographing 4-8 weddings a month and apprenticing with 2 other professionals in the area. He loved being behind the camera and has aspired since that day to make a living doing what he feels he was born to do.
He married his first love and they have had two very sweet little boys. He says he finds his inspiration through the three of them and they are often his guinea pigs for whatever photo idea he has dreamed up.
He really enjoys sharing in the wedding day festivities and really getting to know the couple and what they want from their photos. He wants them to have a beautiful book of memories to preserve the day that they will remember forever.
Children of course are one of his joys to photograph. He says they have a natural presence in front of the camera and you never know what they will do. And he says that is what makes the pictures the parents will love. If a child is photographed in his or her own space or home, and can dress in a favorite outfit and just play then the pictures will just happen.
He also says that he is just a laid back down to earth guy who likes to let the pictures happen. He doesn't want the family to just get the run of the mill, stiff and posed shots like those from a department store photographer. He lends his experience, his artistic mind, his love for people and helps the individual person shine so that he may capture on film the true presence of that person or persons.
He doesn't rush his clients...he puts lots of time into each session because he feels the great photos can't be created they have to be captured. His clients are not just an appointment but real people who deserve great memories.
