Meet Frank Konrath

Five years ago, in partnership with my wife Peggy, I covered my first wedding. Our strategy was two fold: Peggy handles all the logistics of the assignment. From organizing the on location formal portraits to producing the final album. I explore the visual, as with all my assignments, looking between the lines of the script to capture images of thoughts, fleeting intimate moments, the unique energy, a simple beauty, and understated elegance that ultimately defines the story of a most significant day in a couples life.

Free of the constraints of many photographers who work for large studios I have no set or cookie cuter formula when we shoot an event. Our couples design their own coverage and expect the high level of personal service we provide. My Philosophy for photographing weddings is a simple decidedly nonabrasive style which allows me to capture images naturally as the day unfolds. My goal is to visually tell the story of your wedding day not to direct it.

For the must have or more formal aspect of the assignment I rely on my Photo Coordinator. Following your script of shots you want Peggy makes sure that all these photos are setup and done in the most efficient way possible.

As a photojournalist I will candidly document every moment of your wedding day from the pre ceremony to the dancing at the reception. You will never stand in front of a back drop or be pulled away from your wedding celebration to “do photos”.

Near the end of the day when I feel confident that I have all the images I need to document your wedding I’ll find you and say: “I’ll be leaving in 20 minutes or so is there anything else I need to photograph?” The first response is usually: “Did you have a good time?” Or better yet: “We forgot you where here!” When I hear that, I know my assignment has been a success.

I am a photojournalist. Over the past 15 years I have covered assignments that have taken me from the bottom of the deep tunnel project to the top of the locks at the Panama Canal. My work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Style Weddings Magazine, Chicago Parent Magazine, Chicago Lawyer, and many other publications worldwide.
