Photography Achievements

2004 marks John Henry’s 20th anniversary in the photography business. Over the past two decades, John Henry has received many local and national awards for his photography, including 4 prestigious Fuji Masterpiece Awards. To date, over 20 of his portraits have been selected for the PPA General Collection. Of these, 4 have been selected for the PPA Loan Collection. This is an annual PPA print competition where over 8,000 images from around the world are entered into the competition. The elite panel of judges are experienced Master Photographers whose standards are extremely tough. The wedding category is considered one of the most difficult. Among the entries, approximately one percent is selected into the General Collection. From the General Collection, the judges once again critique the images and select their favorites which are entered into the PPA Loan Collection.

In 2000, John Henry Photography, Inc. was listed in “Hawaii’s Fastest 50”, an award presented by the Pacific Business News which highlights small businesses experiencing tremendous growth in a relatively short period of time.

In 1999, John Henry was awarded the Photographer of the Year award by his peers, the Maui Professional Photographers (MPP). It was the first year of the annual award and John Henry was honored to be the first recipient.
