Meet Gregg Akoury
I was born and raised in the great state of Connecticut. The arts have always played a major role in my life, whether it be music, drawing, or photography. I spent a large portion of my life, playing guitar in a band touring New England, recording albums and performing in many different, famous venues throughout New England. After quitting the music scene in 2004, I decided to pick back up my passion for photography. This provided me a way to continue my artistic outlet and also continue to meet new people and form lasting friendships.
I truly am honored to be the handpicked photographer that couples choose to document their wedding day. Weddings are so amazing in the fact that no two are ever the same and each couple/event provides the opportunity to meet new people and families and establish new relationships.
God has blessed me with such a wonderful wife and two amazing boys ages 3 and 6 months. My family is so important to me and when I’m not working I love to spend as much time as I can with them. We spend a lot of time traveling together including our yearly trips to Portsmouth, N.H. and Disney World in Florida.
My Approach
A heavy focus is placed on finding couples who admire photography as an art medium as much as I do and who are willing to spend a little extra time on the wedding day to capture those images that are a cut above.
I definitely take pride in the ability to establish a lasting friendship with my clients. This begins at our initial meeting session and grows throughout the process of the engagement session, subsequent meetings and culminates with the wedding day. This however is truly the beginning of the relationship, as after the wedding I look forward to delivering the final product and also the whole process of album design, screening and printing. I am truly with my clients every step of the way from beginning to end. Thankfully I can say most of my clients actually become true friends and there is no ‘end’, rather another beginning to a lasting relationship.
Coming from a photojournalistic background, I specialize in a strictly documentary approach. I place a strong emphasis on shooting from the sidelines and capturing the natural and unscripted moments of the wedding. My couples are beautiful and have an amazing chemistry all their own, generally needing little or no posing from me. This results in a relaxed atmosphere making everyone comfortable and at ease. And most importantly this is reflected in the final images.
