Kiva Sutton Wedding Photogapher PortraitAbout Kiva I grew up in a small farming community in Vermont. I was always athletic; I played soccer and ice hockey in school, was an avid skier and loved riding road race bikes. I even took a nine day road bike trip to Canada at the age of 13 with two of my best friends. I loved the adventure and the sense of freedom but it didn't hold a candle to what was to come. At age16 my parents took my sister and I out of school to travel for nearly a year. We drove across the country then flew to Australia and New Zealand; I bought my first surfboard in Australia and fell in love with it the minute I dove under my first wave. While surfing you are always watching the ocean, the pattern of the waves and positioning yourself to catch the right wave at the right time to get the thrill of a great ride. Wedding photography is much the same in the sense that you are constantly watching your environment, the people, the light, and positioning yourself to capture the perfect image when it all comes together. It is thrilling to take a beautiful image. It not only gives me a great sense of personal accomplishment but is also deeply satisfying knowing how happy my work makes my clients.

After living in Hawaii for 6 years from the age of 18 to 24 I came back to the east coast, settled down and eventually went to Paier collage of art where I graduated with a 9.4 GPA and a degree in Graphic production. After graduating and working in the graphic design field for several years I felt I was not using my creativity to its fullest potential. This is where photography little by little started completely taking over my life. I had always had an interest in photography but felt it was to artsy and being practical about work I did not have any interest in being a starving artist. I started taking more and more photos of everything and eventually realized that photography was my life passion. It wasn't long after this realization that I jumped in with both feet and a big grin. I didn't care if I lived under a bridge, I had found my passion and I was not going to compromise it for anything.

Letter to my Clients:

As every wedding is different myself and my other photographers approach each wedding with a fresh view. We continually strive for excellence in imagery, imagery that tells your unique story with grace and beauty. We never stop asking ourselves "what can we be doing right now to capture this moment's emotion, how is the light affecting the drama of the landscape, and where should we be right now for the most elegant composition?" We are 110% committed to capturing the most elegant and stunning images of you on your wedding day.

Choosing your wedding photographer:

The first thing to look for is the quality of the work: Is it of the highest quality you can find? Is the style of the work the style you would like to have captured your wedding? This is of the utmost importance because years from now your wedding photographs will be your link back to the wonderful memories of your special day. Check out our blog to get a sense of our style to see if it is right for you.

The second thing is to see if the photographer's personality is a good fit for you and your fiancé. Your photographer does not need to be your new BFF but you do want him or her to be a positive influence on your day and trust that they will be sensitive to your needs.

Last but not least is whether or not the packages and pricing fit your budget. If you find you get yes answers to all three of these items it is time to stop looking and hire the photographer. Yeeaaaaaaa, congratulate yourself on making a wise choice.

If you like the styles of our photography check out our prices. We have all our prices and packages on our web site. If our prices fit your budget give us a ring so you can get to know us and see if our personalities are right for you.

Cheers,
Kiva Sutton
