Wedding Photographer Listings Order Explained

Most wedding / photography directories force members to pay high fees to increase their advertising and listing positions, or merely based rankings upon prestige. Wedding Photography Directory believes that consumer has the right to be presented with the most relevant information to the top of the listings. It's not a matter of how much the photographer pays to advertise, or if a photographer is a new-comer; the WPD focuses on helping the consumers choosing the RIGHT photographer for the important wedding occasion. Our default photographer listings orders are sorted by an Equal Opportunity Points System.

As member profiles are updated, and new listings are added, the default order of state listings will change over time. The Points-System that determines the default state listing order is explained as follows:

Wedding Photographer Directory Listing Chart

1. Content Contributor Bar and Photography Article Link (100 pts)

The Content Contributor Bar is presented for an official WPD Photography Content Contributor, along with a brief title and link to the wedding photographer's online article. The first state contributor is guranteed to be listed amongst the top in his/her own state listings for each article year, and receives many additional exposure benefits. The top state position is reserved for only one candidate for each state. Only high profile qualify photographers are eligeble to apply for this program. For more information, please refer to How to Qualify and Submit Photography Articles, and Content Photographer Writer Benefits.

2. Top-Pick Wedding Photographer / Studio Icon (0 pts)

WPD's prestigious Top-Pick Wedding Photographers selection is chosen base on the photographers' combined Quality & Value voted by our bride & groom website visitors. Less than five photographers are chosen each quarter. The photographers are selected from consumer survey responses via WPD's Consumer Survey Campaigns. Although the Top-Pick icon does not influence photographer listing positions, it serves as an indication of status.

3. Achievements Icon (0 pts)

A photographer that has received multiple nationally recognized awards, or presented work in major galleries / exhibits, or published in several major magazines will be presented by the Achievement Icon. The Achievement Icon will draw more attention from consumer visitors, but it does not yield any profile points. A yet-to-be-accomplished photographer with good profile has the equal chance of displaying his/her profile to the top of the page.

4. Video Capability Icon (0 pts)

Indicates the photographer / studio has the ability to provide wedding video capture services.

5. Blog and RSS Feed Icon (0 pts)

Blog icon and link to the wedding photographer's online Blog URL.

6. Quality of Work and Submitted Photos (Up to 20 pts)

A photographer may receive up to 20 pts for the quality and creativity of his/her work. Due to the subjective nature of judging one's work, this aspect of the scoring is not reveal to the public or the WPD members. However, low resolution images or sub-professional photographs will result in lower points.

7. Photographer / Business Owner Portrait (1 pt)

A photographer with a portrait surely holds the advantage of attracting more consumer clickthroughs. Although the portrait doesn't yield many points, it will play an important factor in deciding listing orders amongst equal-points profiles.

8. Bio Quality (up to 30 pts)

The Bio Quality is measured by four scores: none (0 pt), average (10 pts), rich (20 pts), great (30 pts). The quality is not judged by the mere quantity of text, but rather how well the photographer has presented his/her experience, photography style, achievements, and most importantly, communicating at a personal level with the audience. A bio made up by pure marketing language will not receive a high score.

9. Quantity of Portfolio Photos (up to 48 pts)

A listing may have up to 16 online photos. Each photo yields 3 points, to the maximum of 48 points.
