Macro - This is close up photography with a special lens.

Manual Mode - Gives users full control of their camera enabling them to hand set the aperture and shutter speed.

Matrix Meter - Analyzes lighting in the scene to set the optimal exposure.

Megapixel - A measure of resolution of a digital camera. 1 Megapixel is 1 million pixels. This can also describe the number of sensor elements in a digital camera.

Memory Stick - Sony’s exclusive storage media format, not compatible with any other vendor.

Metadata - Metadata is information that may describe other data.

Metering - Measuring light in the scene to set optimal exposure using a light meter or doing it manually or by eye.

Micro Drive - This is a small hard drive that is compatible with a Type II Compact Flash slot in digital cameras.

Mirror Lock-up - When taking pictures that require long exposure, there are often imperfections in the end result due to excessive vibration. This feature found in many higher end cameras prevent this problem by locking the camera’s mirror in the up position.

Multiple Array - In this method three individual CCDs which are blue, red and green respectively, are implied to create the image.

Multi-Segment Meter - Analyzes lighting in the scene to set the optimal exposure.

Multi-Spot Focus - This option gives you the ability to focus on any point in the image.
