Backs - Large size cameras have a back portion that is removable. This is where the film is kept. It can be replaced with other backs.

Barrel Distortion - This is distortion caused by the lens, that causes the outer edge of image bow outward.

Bayer Pattern - Filter Array with most common colors of the three most popular colors: Red Green and Blue. Filters of the above colors can be applied on selected part of an image to calculate the true color of all pixels in this area.

Bicubic Interpolation - Interpolation method which can be utilized for the photo re-sampling process. The Bicubic method is the most popular choice.

Bilinear Interpolation - Another Interpolation method which can be utilized for the photo re-sampling process, with the use of two linear functions.

Bit Depth - Number of bits for each pixel in an image. The higher the bit depth, the greater number of colors there are. This is also sometimes referred to as color depth.

Black and White - As it pertains to film, black and white refers to Images that are entirely made up of shades of grey. As it pertains to digital photography, the more appropriate term is grayscale. Grayscale images can also be created on computers.

Blending Mode - Or transfer mode. This mode lets you control the way pixels blend together in composited layers.

BLOG - A website which is an online electronic journal. The journal could be easily updated by users without technical web page design background. A blend of text, photography, and video could all be inserted into a BLOG. A BLOG is commonly associated with a dated calendar, and web page archives. BLOG examplifies its unique strength via its ability to also accept user comments and feedbacks.

Blooming - A distortion in a digital photograph that is the result of the digital camera’s CCD being overcharged. This extra charge is introduced to neighboring photosites causing this distortion.

BMP - A 24-Bit graphics format developed by Microsoft; originally used by the Windows Operating System (OS).

Boot Time - The time it takes for a camera to be ready to take pictures after powering up.

Boudoir - A lady's private bedroom, sitting room or dressing room; derived from the French verb bouder, meaning "to pout".

Boudoir or Wedding Photography - An photography art form in which the photographer explores the sensual side of a female subject.

Bracketing - A photography technique of taking multiple frames of every shot with different exposure settings. This increases the chances of getting the perfect photo.

Bulb Mode - Allows a photographer to keep shutter open for as long as he holds down the shutter release button.

Burst - or commonly refers to as Continuous Shooting; lets you take multiple pictures one right after another.
