10. Home Image Photography (WPD Member, WPD Contestant) - (5/25/2009 9:58:47 AM) Nice spot-coloring image

I think the surroundings would've been distracting; green trees, grass, etc. The photographer's intentional attempt to draw the viewers attention to the subject and their reflection is achieved here. Honestly, when I first looked at this photo, I didn't even notice the desaturation, my eyes went straight to the point of the picture; the couple and their reflection in the water. While I personally do not use this effect, I can see why it was done here and in my opinion, it works. I would venture to guess that in 10 years, that couple will love this image.

Selective desaturation is a passing fad and should be avoided professionally. Especially since a client can very easily apply this affect themselves with any photo editing software. If a client ever requests something that I feel will compromise the timeless nature class of the wedding, I am always sure to talk them out of it and offer an alternative. I already have had several clients that are now annoyed that they used selective color in their prints and want to go back to either full color of B&W. In my opinion, this trend is already outdated a couple of years ago. You never see any high end photographer using this effect, and will never see it used in art again. This fad is gone the way of tie-dye.

6. Anonymous - (3/28/2009 11:15:25 AM) I love the reflection and the color contrast... An amazing picture but the details of the brides dress are sacrificed with the distance shot....but we can't get it all...overall beautiful shot...
5. Anonymous - (3/27/2009 6:48:37 PM) Comment #3 I think I agree about the angle. I would like to see the couple on the left and maybe shot diagonally so the reflection iscentered and pointing to the right, if that make sense. But don't get what you mean by different aperature setting? Different how?
4. Anonymous - (3/27/2009 6:16:17 PM) Great reflections in the water. I wonder if it was photoshopped or did you get lucky? The colors of their clothes really adds to the shot. Good job.
3. Anonymous - (3/27/2009 4:23:30 PM) This is too centered for my taste. It also seems somewhat soft. I think with a slightly different angle and different aperture settings, this image could be heavily improved.
2. Anonymous - (3/27/2009 1:24:13 PM) This is a nice, different photograph. I love it.
