4. Artistic Images by Sam Chinigo (WPD Member & Contestant) - (3/9/2008 1:45:28 PM) Not really, the B&G get a bit lost in the shadow. The reason we add vignettes or dodge & burn images is usually to draw attention to the subject by making them the brighter part of the image. We do that because it's natural for our minds to ignore the darker parts in favor of the brighter parts. Same concept. Try this...close your eyes for a few seconds, then open them and look at the image quick. Try to note what you first look at. Are you initially drawn to the bright spot in the grass..or the shadow? Personally, I find myself looking at the bright grass and sky, then searching for the b&g, then I go back to the brighter parts of the scene again. It should be the opposite. Besides that though, moving them over to the right would help balance the image. The image right now is "weighted" to the left because of the tall tree behind them.
3. Anonymous - (3/4/2008 5:09:44 PM) I thought the b&g are placed inside the shadow on purpose, since it's a very sunny day. They are fine where they are, if they're place on the right side, you will have a strong shadow on the foreground with no purpose.
