"Jumping into the Future"
Photo Equipment:
Canon 5D, Lens: 24mm 1.4L Series, F-stop: f/2.5, Exposure: 1/1250sec, ISO Speed: ISO-1000, Focal Length: 24mm
Notes:
"This shot was taken at the end of the wedding when I asked all the best men to show off their abilities in one shot since they kept doing tricks throughout the day. They all agreed, and climbed onto a higher level where they did a couple of test jumps. I asked then to jump in different directions, and after three jumps I got the shot that is now before you. "

"At Last"
Photo Equipment:
Canon Mark II N, 35mm f1.4 lens 800 ISO at 1/250 sec at f2.0
Notes:
"This type of photograph asks the client to have a lot of confidence in their photographer. They picked their location because it's beautiful river views so the idea of shooting some of their portraits against an on-site retaining wall might not have been their first choice of shooting locations. To me, this location had beautiful defused light in the corner of the tent that hit near the retaining wall. I added a canvas texture in post production from my Pro Actions Texture set."

"Bliss"
Photo Equipment:
Canon 1Ds Mark II w/Canon 15mm f/2.8 fisheye. Shutter 1/15th sec. at f/5.6 800 ASA, Tripod mounted
Notes:
"I used a Metz 60-CT4 flash, output at f/5.6 400 ASA set behind the bride on the fence. We worked with the couple during their actual wedding at Heceta Head Lighthouse in Oregon. During our first meeting, the couple indicated a desire for artistic, editorial photography. They worked with us during the reception to make a series of sunset images on the beach head that included the light house in the background, I liked this one best. My approach creatively was to use the low light level at sunset for mood and color saturation. In addition, I used the backlight to make the dress appear translucent and to make her legs appear just slightly through the dress. I didn't use any direct front flash, that's why I had to drag the shutter a bit to allow the ambient light to slightly illuminate the front of the brides dress. I used Photoshop CS2 to burn in the sky a bit, and dogged the foreground somewhat to expose tree root detail. The brides pose was intended to invoke a sense of romance and her longing to see her new husband.

Island Love
Photo Equipement:
Nikon D200, 18-50mm, 1/125, 7 aperture.
This was shot in Guam, my home town and the beach in the island is always beautiful. I had a bridesmaid hold the strobe light on the left and asked the couple to kiss. The bridesmaid happens to be an old friend from high school which I haven't even seen for ten years until this day! The clients were so relaxed and trusting since we are from the same home town. They allowed me the creative freedom to experiment and do whatever I wanted.

Vintage
Photo Equipement:
Canon 1D Mark IIN, Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L USM, f/5.6 at 1/10 sec, Canon 580EX
When I saw the room I knew I had to take this shot. The composition itself was simple, I told the bride to sit and chill on the chair, while I told the groom to stand w/o his jacket. I wanted to get a vintage couple feeling in the image, since they got married in a beautiful historical mansion, and I want them to remember it from this portrait. I applied fine art textures and some dodge and burn to the image to provide the vintage look from Photoshop CS2. The couple was very fun to work with since they gave me the creative freedom to do whatever I want.

Camera Shy
Photo Equipement:
Canon 5D, 85mm. 2.5, 1/400 ISO 100
Joey, the ring bearer, didn't want his photo taken. I asked him to play a little game of following my camera as I walked backward, away from the couple. He leaned to the side to look into my lens and I snapped this shot. There has been post-production cropping- I happen to like chopping body parts off, bleeding the image off the edge of the photo.

Genki
Photo Equipement:
Canon 5D, 35mm 1.4 L
Technical challenge for this shot was the handling of the sun exposure. I met the clients through a friend. My artistic vision was to convey visually the chemistry they had for one another. While usually I just use a simple silhouette, this time I let the sun rim light, and burst through to further tell of their connection.
