Wedding Photography Contest Rules Archive

So you have been shooting since five years old. It's time to put your skills into the test! The First Annual WPD Public Wedding Photo Contest is open to WPD members and outside professional wedding photographers alike. The winners will be determined by WPD members and public voters! Beyond the bragging rights, the $1,000 grand prize could be yours!

Contest Awards

• First Place: $1,000 Grand Prize - The grand prize winner will be rewarded $1,000 in cash, or redeem the option for a three-year Wedding Photography Directory Membership; a $1,200 value offer.

• Second Place: 2GB iPod Nano (Generation II) - The second generation iPod Nano is like a before and after picture: this updated Nano sports a slimmer, more attractive, all-aluminum body; as well as a 1.5" LCD that's 40% brighter then before. iPod Nano holds thousands of photos that you can sync from your Mac or Windows PC via iTunes.

• Third Place: $100 Amazon.com Gift Certificate - Purchase CDs, books, spend it anyway you like on Amazon.com.

• Honorable Mentions - Contestant photos and credits will be presented for runner up mentions.

Contest Timeline & Winner Selection

• 12/5/2006 - Contest submission opens to the public.

• 1/5/2007 - Contest submission closes.

• 1/6/2007 to 1/16/2007 - Initial WPD qualification selection.

• 1/17/2007 to 2/17/2007 - Contest wedding photos open for voting.

• 2/26/2007 - Public voting data is analyzed, and winners are announced.

Wedding Photo Contest 2006-2007 Rules

WPD Photographer Member Entry Rules

1. All existing WPD members are eligible for contest.

2. Each contestant may submit up to three wedding photos, however, only one photo (the one which receives the most votes) will be allowed into the final round of winning selection.

3. WPD members MAY NOT enter wedding photos that were not photographed by themselves. Violation of this contest policy will lead to a permanent ban from Wedding Photography Directory.

4. New work required - members MAY NOT submit photos that already exist within their WPD online portfolio, unless the photo is added after 12/1/2006.

5. In order to claim the winning prize, the WPD member will be given five days to submit a self portrait if none exist within the member online profile. Failure to submit the self portrait acts as a forfeit of the contest.

Outside Wedding Photographer (Non-Member) Entry Policy

1. You must live and operate your photography business within the United States.

2. You must own your wedding photography business URL, and own exclusive rights to your wedding photos. Your website contains easy-to-find contact information via both email (or contact form), and business phone number.

3. You MAY NOT enter photographs that were not shot by you.

4. You may submit up to three wedding photos, however, only one photo (the one which receives the most votes) will be allowed into the final round of winning selection.

5. If your photo pass the initial contest qualification selection made by the WPD, our staff will contact you in person to validate your legitimacy in your contest participation. An Indication of Proprietary Ownership Agreement must be signed, and fax back to Wedding Photography Directory.

6. You will be given five days to submit a self portrait and bio in order to claim the winning prize. Failure to submit acts as a forfeit of the contest.
